To all: The reason that I put the original zip file for Access Maintainer up on my website is because - when you search for that program on the Internet, most of the LINKS send you directly to the
www.gracemere.com website -- and, there is no place that I have found - where they "still" have copies of the Access Maintainer program that "is OK" for your DXbase MDB file... At the www.gracemere.com website, you will find the latest and greatest version of Access Maintainer, BUT, there is a BIG warning to "not" use that version if you have an Acess97 based MDB file (such that we have in Dxbase)... Here is the warning: //quote// WARNING: Do not use this program with Access 97 replica databases. Microsoft has more on this issue at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q247/4/89.asp. //unquote// Then, once you go to that LINK, they say //quote// SYMPTOMS In Microsoft Access 97, when you try to open a replica that you have compacted with Microsoft Access 2000, you receive the following error message: Reserved Error (-1038) There is no message for this error Then, the database is not opened. CAUSE Compacting a Microsoft Jet 3.5 replica with Microsoft Jet 4.0 (Access 2000) makes the database unusable in Access 97. //unquote// I hope that by having the Access97 Maintainer available at my website will at least help some people who want to "compact" their DXbase MDB file.. 73 Joe wa6axe
