Greg,
Cool name! I too use DXBase as my main logging program. My only real
complaint of the package is the inability to log "alternative" modes using
their actual names. When I log a JT44, JT6M or FSK441 qso, I choose FAX as
the mode. I figure I will never use FAX via amateur radio, so that's why I
chose it. Originally, I logged them as RTTY, but switched to FAX because I
want to try RTTY contesting one of these days.
It's a hassle, especially QSLing, generating reports and creating ADIF files
for LOTW. I partially solved the QSL problem by creating specific labels
for JT44 and FSK441. But then you have to print those labels separately.
As for the ADIF<>LOTW problem, I use a text editor to open the adi file
after creating it within DXBase, then do a search for each instance of:
<MODE:3>FAX
and replace it with
<MODE:7>DIGITAL
It's a hassle, but DXBase is still the best general logging program out
there.
Although I have worked EN90 on 2M, I have not gotten a card out of there.
Want to try some JT44 on 144MHz sometime? When do you normally operate WSJT
and do you use pingjockey?
