A lot of suggestions have flowed over the reflector relating to backing up our log data in DXBase and many great ideas have been presented. I wanted to share a couple of thoughts on backing up our data externally to our personal computers which many already do.
Logbook of the World by the ARRL presents a good way to back up our data "off site". LoTW is new and will no doubt evolve into an outstanding service over time. Once we load our ADIF log information into LoTW we at least have one external source of back up information. (www.arrl.org/lotw) LoTW Another excellent "backup" source is the eQSL system located at www.eqsl.cc/ . Log data is maintained in multiple ways at eQSL and is easily accessed in multiple ways by call sign, date, band, etc. In event of a catastrophic fire or something at home where I would loose all back up copies of DXBase data, I find comfort knowing that LoTW and eQSL off site back ups do exist and I try to submit my lot information to both weekly. Just a thought.
