Check out User Options under the VHF/TNC tab and the Internet Tab.  You'll
see the various options for sound alerts and can remove the check from the
ones you don't want.

Yes, you can compact and repair your DXbase database using any of the
features of Access97.  Do NOT use Access2K because this uses a different
database format than Access97 and would render your DXbase database
unusable.
