Peter,
The exported ADIF file should be a text file.  You can look at the file 
records with a text editor like Notepad and see if the "state" is 
identified by the ADIF format <STATE:2>xx

If it is, DXBase will recognize it just fine during an ADIF import as long 
as the "xx" is on the list of valid states.

DXBase will also process things like <ARRL_SECT:2>CO which come from my 
contest logging program and assign them as "states".  It will not recognize 
<ARRL_SECT:2>AB as a state.  eg: a Canadian province.

You can also just make a backup of your log and try an import and see if 
the state gets located correctly...
