Hi Gerard, I am using the USB port to control my Field without a problem. I purchased the Microham interface. I chose it because it comes with all cabling for my rig, has level converters and is filtered. It does rig control with DXBase, rig control and CW TX (QSK & PTT) with Writelog and rig control and QSK CW with MixW. Costomer service is great too. BTW I have used it with Windows XP Home and XP Professional and the CW is perfect (not choppy as other have reported with other USB interfaces).
