(I looked through the DXbase archives prior to posting this question, but
didn't find this issue previously addressed)

Background: I'm currently using DXbase 2005 after upgrading from previous
versions over the years. My original configuration was a Yaesu FT-1000MP
(Radio
1) connected to the computer via Com 1. The second radio (Radio 2) was an
Icom IC-756Pro2 connected via a CT-17 level converter to Com 5. I was able to
select either radio through DXbase with no problems. Everything worked as
expected.

I'm now using an Icom IC-7800 (Radio 1) connected to Com 5 via the CT-17
level converter (it works fine). I would like to use the 756Pro2 as Radio 2.
Since the addresses are different for each radio, I thought I could simply plug
the Pro2 into one of the unused ports on the CT-17 and make the appropriate
radio selection in the "User Options/Radio 2" tab in DXbase. However, when I
do
this I get the following response after I check the "Connect HF Radio 2 Serial
Interface" box:

"Unable to open <HF Radio 2> comport. This feature will be turned off"

I must be missing something, but I'm not sure what it is. Also, Com 5 IS NOT
derived from a USB-Serial port adaptor. It is a "real" serial port on a PCI
I/O board.

Frank

Each radio requires a separate serial port.
