I had going a long dissertation on a self-inflicted problem I was having but decided that I would lose the average reader before getting to the point.
So, suffice it to say, I discovered that if you make changes to the underlying data *after* having run the selection wizard, the stuff selected by the wizard does not change. This probably should be obvious but I overlooked it and paid a number hours of my dwindling life for it.
