Under Dxbase 2005's 'Tools\Options\User Options' do the following. 1) Click the Radio 1 Tab (assuming that you will only control one rig from Dxbase) 2) In the upper windows select 'TENTEC and then ORIOM565' 3) Put a 'Check Mark' in the box 'Connect HF Radio 1 Serial Interface' 4) Put a Check Mark in the CTS box (Leave DRT High and RTS High unchecked. 5) Select the Comm Port that you are going to use. 6) in the Baudrate box select '57600' 7) Word Length set to '8' 8) Parity set to 'NONE' 9) Stop Bits to '1'
Click the 'Log Defaults' tab and make sure that you have a Check Marin in the 'Load Band/Mode from HF Transceiver' box. Click OK and close Dxbase. I prefer to also do the following to make sure that the Orion and the serial port communicates. Go to the Windows 'Device Manager' (in Windows 2000 or XP, Click 'Control Panel\System\Hardware Tab\Device Manager) Expand Ports and right click the port you are using Depending on your serial port implementation find the settings section. Put in the following in the appropriate places: 57600 BPS 8 Data bits NONE for parity 1 Stop Bits Flow Control Hardware Although most serial ports can configure themselves, I have found that manually configuring the serial port tends to work 100% of the time. Reopen Dxbase and give it a go.
