I was trying to create a report to show me which SSB stations in the US that I have confirmed on 80 mtrs. I looked in the log and in the "Band" column the bands are defined in wavelength (10, 12, 15, 17, 20, etc.), but if you are creating a report the field of "Band" is in frequency. It is confusing if the log says the contact was on a "Band" of 80, but a report says the "Band" is 3.5. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any hits with BAND="80", then I noticed that instead of 20 mtrs in the Band column of the report it was showing 14. Why the difference and why can't they be the same?
Just wondering because it makes things confusing. All of the reviews of this device on eham.net are also very positive. http://www.microham.com/USB%20interfaces.html I just ordered one earlier this week but it has not arrived yet. The cost is $60 delivered. Some of the newer laptops also use lower voltage on the serial ports and do not interface well with some of the computers or the Icom CT-17 and clone level converters. ...Dave -- N9FN ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Detweiler" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 15, 2004 10:42 AM Subject: Re: [Dxbase] Building new shack computer > A good place to get PCI card that has 4 or 8 serial comm ports. > > http://www.byterunner.com/ > > 73's > Rich > K5SF > Rich is correct and I should have mentioned that to overcome the serial port problem. Byterunner provides a good answer, I've used their product successfully and their support was excellent. Byterunner is a bit expensive and I've only rarely seen used/surplus units offered for sale. Another choice is dual and quad serial adapters made by SIIG. I've had total success with these and they can be found on Ebay at very low prices. Both units come in PCI format and have drivers for all Windows OS's. Obviously these choices only work with Desktop units and not laptops. **********************
