two computers, similar, but not the same. Both on network running same version of DXB
Comp. 1 is my normal shack, rig control, DXBase machine. DXB is in C:/dxb07 (original ain't I?) I made that a 'network drive' Comp. 2 is my normal shack, but email/business/whatever machine. DXB is in C:/DXBbackup07 (still staying original, ?) Comp 2, looks to Dxb07 on 'Shackone/c'(z:) for the log files when it opens. It will show a carbon copy of the Comp.1 log at the time of it's opening. I can manually enter a qso into either machine and it will be transfered to the log of the other machine. but..... You must close the other machine and reopen to see the qsos added on the other. this works in either direction. So far, I have not been able to have it magically append the new qso to the log of the other machine. I tried mapping the log to the other machines. Comp 1 mapped to Comp 2 Comp 2 mapped to Comp 1 What that does, Enter a call on comp 1 and it will show on comp 2 WHEN OPENED. AND vice versa But only upon opening, not at the same time. next experiment will be to save log to a 3rd computer and have both shack computers mapped to that 3rd machine... No real major reason for this, just boredom and experimentation. But...I could see a use for it like in a SE type operation. Although the network multi/multi contest programs are probably better for this. ----------------------------------------------------- I can trace my taglines back 8 generations. ----------------------------------------------------- Bill H. in Chicagoland webcams at http://76.16.160.118:8080/ weather at http://hhweather.webhop.org
