Tony, Under tools do check the card database to see if the cards to be printed are listed, but to be honest I sort of remember if the database is empty you get a different error from the date error. Also check the column (may be hidden) in your log to see if the cards have been 'sent/printed' already.
You may also wish to add another card to your list to be printed for a test. I am sending email from my home office and not the shack, but will check later this weekend to see if I can duplicate your error, unless someone else can comment.
