Not meaning to be facetious, I really don't see a critical problem with windows 7 and DXB2007. If you install it outside of the Program Files directory and manually copy the Hosts file to the windows/System32/drivers/etc directory all seems fine here. Is there another issue I am missing? [pjd] The issue I ran into with one of the members of this community a while back was that no matter what he did he kept getting the UAC prompt whenever he tried to launch the app. If "run as administrator" was selected, the app never launched, period (it would give any one of about a half-dozen error codes, none of which I recall at the moment). We installed, un-installed and re-installed at least a dozen times--never in the Program Files directory--over the course of about 18 hours and it just never did its thing the way he'd expected. The user gave up at that point and went back to XP. That was enough to scare me off doing it on my own box, especially since I figured v.10 would be out within a year and my XP system was/is stable. [pjd] Granted his install was the proverbial zebra and mine most likely would have been smooth but I figured why bother if my machine was otherwise fine. But for me, I'm comfortable messing with PCs and trying different configurations and I know my way around an OS reasonably-well. My thought process is that for those who are outside their own comfort level tinkering or doing things in a non-standard fashion, XP might be a better option for running 2k7. But on the whole, getting a modern system with Win7 up and running would definitely be a big plus and, going forward in computing in general, would be a better solution. ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
