I have used DXBase for many years. working just fine on my "old" computer, Win
7. Because microsoft dropped support for Win 7, and since my "old" computer is
now 9 years old, I recently bought a new computer with Win 10, and installed
DXBase from the website. I then setup all options identically to my old
computer. and in most respects the program works fine. except re internet
window.
when I click on a spot in the internet window nothing happens - specifically,
the summary window and previous qso window do NOT update to show the spot
statistics. and clicking the qsy button does NOT qsy my radio. in essence the
click seems not to register in any way.
similarly, if I click in the DX spots window the summary and previous qso
screens do NOT update, and the radio doesn't qsy.
this is completely different on my "old" computer where clicking updated all
statistics and qsyed my radio.
another oddity on new computer internet window is that the qsy and alert
columns are inconsistent - sometimes qsy has an "x" or "checkmark" and
sometimes it is blank; and sometimes the alert column shows "DX" sometimes not.
no pattern to it - can't figure how program is "deciding". and when one of the
columns has something in it the summary window updates when the spot is
received (although once it has been replaced clicking doesn't cause an update),
while a blank column spot doesn't update the summary window even momentarily.
once today there were 2 spots for TZ4AM only a couple minutes apart - one spot
had qsy and alert columns filled in the other spot had both blank! (same
freq/mode etc.) - how could this be?
the help files clearly say that clicking on an internet spot should result in
updating the summary and previous qso windows, provided "update screen
statistics" is selected. but I can't find any mention in help files of where to
find that option, nor does it appear anywhere within the various toolbar
selections (also true on my old computer, where I never selected any such
option, but screens update).
hope someone can help with this!
