Hello Nihal , which therapy are you following ?   is it the intensive therapy with 4 insulin shots per day ( 3 shots of fast acting insulin before meals and 1 shot of long acting at bedtime )  ??   OR is it the conventional therapy ( 2 insulin shots of insulin mix of long acting and short acting ) ??   I am asking because you have mentioned that you have reduced the doses that you " nearly take any " !! do you mean that you have eeminated one or two of your daily doses or is it just that you have reduced the insulin units per dose ??   We will never be able to live without insulin :) you know why .. because insulin transforms the food that we eat into energy which we could use in our daily lives .. reactivating the pancreas is not possible as well because here we are talking about Type 1 ( Insulin dependant ) diabetes. In Type 1 diabetes or Jevenile diabetes the pancreas STOPS producing insulin.   What you may be talking about here is Type 2 ( non-Insulin dependant ) diabetes as it would actually be helpfull to loose weight for this type which sometimes may be caused by being overweight as the pancreas does produce insulin but actually the insulin does not become enough anymore due to a person being overweight.   That is the main differences really and I believe that clears up your missunderstanding here.   best of luck   Ahmed Nour-eldin type1 diabetic since 1996 ----- Original Message ----- From: nihal abdin   elsalamo 3alikom, I once said that i wanna lose 3 kg if anyone can remember. well, actually i lost 5 kg. n 2 do that i reduced my meals 2 the min. i could and by that my doses are reduced automatically that i nearly take any. i'm really happy with this and that made me wonder if wtt i'm doing can actually make me not in need 2 take insulin on the long run, and i'm exercising alot by the way.
