glib not installed ?

Hi I was trying to instal latest gtk+ 1.0.1-2 and the rpm gave me
message glib not installed. What is glib ? I know about glibc but
nothing about glib. It is a redhat 5 box with all the updates from rh
site. Any idea ? Thanks.
