The only ones I can think of are: While I agree that this is not good PR for e-gold, switching all of e-gold to a different system is not that easy. All scripts have to be rewritten (and I've seen at the EFCE conference that there is a lot more than you can see trough the public interface). And on top of that, especially for a financial system like e-gold, you have to be absolutely sure the scripts are correct (and that means a *long* test cycle). This whole process is more likely to take several months than several days or weeks as you suggest. Even though I prefer Unix myself, I've seen that Windows NT can perfectly well handle lots of database transactions. My guess would be that the hardware is not able to keep up (too slow) or that the scripts are badly written and/or the database not configured too well. In all of those situations would switching to Unix not really help. But I could be wrong of course.
