24-carat bid to restore gold standard

GOLD appears to have lost its glitter. Producers of the world's most
famous precious metal are to launch an unprecedented £50m advertising
blitz to restore its allure in the face of declining sales and a
disastrous price slump. 

The World Gold Council, which represents dozens of gold-mining nations,
is seeking an advertising agency to mastermind the campaign to restore
the reputation of the metal which for centuries sparked wars, sustained
economies and adorned the planet's most beautiful women.
