Hi:

This Sunday I will be part of an online radio debate that is
being broadcast from the UK (see below). We will be discussing
retailing and the issues we face. I'm sure I can work in the power of gold.

So, at 4:30PM EST on Sunday, lower the volume on your TV and pump
up your computer and tune in. For our Aussie friends, that's
8:30 AM on Monday; for our British friends it's 9:30 PM
London. And for those who attended the IRSII Conference in
Melbourne and heard me speak, I promise that I will keep it clean ;-).

George

========
Dear George,

Thank you again for agreeing to take part in the short debate
this coming Sunday afternoon 1630 (eastern time). If the
following is a copy of what you already have please accept my apologies :

Global is BBC Radio 5 Live's foreign affairs programme called
Global, broadcast Sunday evenings 2100-2200 London time,
1600-1700 Eastern time. The presenter is Brian Hayes. You can
listen to the output on the web ....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/

As part of the Global programme we have a debate on a topic
currently in the UK news, but also linked to the BBC's Talking
Points website.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/talking_point/newsid_1097000/1097341.stm

As a foreign affairs programme we try to give a wider perspective
on the topic...to see how other countries view similar
problems. This week we would like to discuss online shopping
...was it good for you? Is this just a passing phase or is it
here to stay? Do men shop online more than women? Do women like
to be out in the field feeling the goods and having a social time?

We're setting up an internet specialist from Sweden, someone from
Hong Kong or S.Korea , someone from Brazil and you...so it should
be good. We wanton see how people feel about shopping online.
Have people started shopping from their mobiles? Do people like
going to shopping malls and getting their hands on the stuff
instead of looking at photographs. Is online shopping taking over
from mail order catalogues? Is online shopping for the men, an
extension of playing computer games? Or do men hate shopping
anyway and this is a godsend for them?

Some ideas to be getting on with.

This is not a combative debate, rather a means to inform our
listeners of what happens around the globe when faced with the same problems.

Thank you again,

Regards,

Leo
