But it seems inconceivable it could be anything other than a gram of 
fine gold!!!

Gold is gold ... if we redefined gold as "alloyed gold" (it makes no 
difference whether one choose .9, .8, or .anything) ... there would 
be total chaos!

For instance, all "one ounce" gold coins, which weigh about 1.1 
ounces -- would suddenly be worth 1.1 ounces of gold!!!!!!!!!!!!

"kilobars" (which weigh very slightly more than a kilo) would 
suddenly be worth very slightly more than a kilo!!!

(This is a re-definition worthy of government!! :)  )
