JP, Snow Dog, and the lot of readers out there,
Gaithmans (and likely Goldfinger, though I only speak for Gaithmans)
experienced a HUGE wave of outexchanges when the price of gold spiked after
the 9-11-01 attacks. Gaithmans bought far more e-gold from it's clients
than it needed at that time during the resulting wave of outexchanges.
As a result, we have simply stopped buying e-gold for a few days in order
to allow us to deplete our excess inventory. (Supply vs. Demand) No need
to interpret the actions of Gaithmans as an ominous sign of impending doom,
just simple practice of inventory control.
Gaithmans will resume buying e-gold today (Friday, Oct. 5th) but will no
longer be paying the 2% premium as we still have a surplus. Our fee
structure will remain in place with that exception. Anyone wishing to
