I just thought I had better add that eBay's forthcoming User Agreement announced Wed, 27 Feb 2002 17:58:16 -0800 forbids the exporting of eBay feedback ratings to other systems! Of course, they cannot effectively forbid people trusting Graham Kelly (for example) because of the knowledge that he has a high eBay rating, nor can they forbid / prevent another system showing the person's entire eBay feedback in its proper eBay context, that is, the other system doesn't import it, it simply helps people to see for themselves publicly viewable information about a person held on the eBay system. Of course, essential to this idea is the necessity of ensuring that the person behind the user ID on one system is the person behind the eBay user ID. I agree with eBay that if simply imported into another (competing) auction system an eBay feedback rating may be misleading or even deceptive, but I think my advice above, prevents such misuse of the eBay feedback data, except for any aspect of eBay's objection to the practice if any, which is only aimed at preserving competitive advantage (that is, as an anti-competitive measure against their competition). --------- Ian Green Direct Democracy Forum http://ao.com.au/ddf/ http://www.DirectDemocracyForum.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ddf/ "Every person a member of the legislature!" --- You are currently subscribed to e-gold-list as: archive@jab.org To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use e-gold's Secure Randomized Keyboard (SRK) when accessing your e-gold account(s) via the web and shopping cart interfaces to help thwart keystroke loggers and common viruses.
