I think it's important. I've bought stuff with e-gold, and twice in the past, I waited a week before reminding the seller that I had bought something, only to find that the seller hadn't checked his e-gold account, and didn't know that I had made a payment. One of those two purchases was from G&SR back in 1999, when I bought a t-shirt. It was about a week later before I sent a follow-up email questioning the delivery. Also, when I was exchanging e-gold, during low-volume months, people would occassionally send me e-gold for exchange, but I would not be aware of it in a timely manner, when they didn't fill out my form properly to notify me. Most people wanted to buy e-gold from me, but sell it through Omnipay, so I didn't have a large business exchanging it, and would forget to check the e-gold account from time to time. Also, note that the other services offer the email alerts, and I think they're great!
