It would seem appropriate, in the light of comments regarding the eCTA recently, that the purpose of the eCTA has been lost sight of in many eyes.
The purpose and objectives of the eCurrency Trade Association Inc. (hereinafter called the Association) are to unite the member group so that it may: Promote and maintain the highest professional standards of business practice among its members. Maintain standards for entry to the Assoc. Promote the interests of the member of the group. Develop and improve processes for the safe and secure business development of its members Encourage cordial relations between the members and affiliated and non-affiliated businesses and other professional bodies and associations around the world. Keep a breast of international developments in the e-currency economy affecting, principally the gold economy, but also encompassing all other e-commerce The Association therefore represents it's members. It does not represent or speak for other Exchange Providers, Merchants who use gold or digital or gold currencies. The association specifically does not represent any digital issuers and in fact has been a strong proponent of and suggested in the past that the digital and gold issuers form their own association with a purpose in mind of setting and maintaining a standard of policy and operation. The need for this is evidenced by the recent demise of Standard Transactions and the furore surrounding Osgold at the moment. It may be complementary to expect the eCTA to be able to dictate to any Digital and Gold Issuer how they should operate but the eCTA's Charter is limited to the relationship between it's members and the Digital & Gold Issuers. Members use accept and trade in any Gold or Digital Currency on their own cognizance. The eCTA recommends Caution and the practice of due diligence in accepting and trading in ANY Digital or Gold Currency, irregardless of who they are.
