That's really not even the best analogy, Ken. It's not complicated --- goldgrams (say e-gold or goldmoney) are simply ANOTHER CURRENCY. (Just like, say, "New Zealand dollars" or "Swedish Krona" or whatever.) There's no forest, sapling, or whatever involved. There's just difference currencies. Self-evidently, in the US, to make an example, essentially all transactions are US Dollars (obviously). There's also be a tiny amount of say Canadian dollar and Mexican Peso transactions. in Britain, say, self-evidently Stirling is the main currency used, and a fair, little bit of Euros now, too. goldgrams, are just another currency. (again like say the New Zealand dollar.) obviously, the circulation of goldgrams is trivially low compared to other major world currencies (there hasn't been any analysis of this for a few years, anyone care?) Questions of "entering the mainstream" and so on are unrelated. It's just a question of how big. Maybe in five years we'll all be sayin "oh well, too bad grams of gold as a currency never grew beyond a few hundred bars" or maybe will be saying "pity grams of gold as a currency is only at 10,000 bars, will it ever reach 20,000 and when?" Who knows? I see no evidence at all that the gold economy is "faltering" ? e-gold, goldmoney, e-bullion's bar counts are all moving ahead. e-bullion is rushing ahead. I know that 1mdcGrams is moving too fast, we have to slow it down. (Note to Jay -- you're nuts not to have a graph of grams in the system over the months man!) Obviously nonsense like "osgold," "standard reserve", "evocash," which are unrelated to actual Internet Gold Currencies etc have collapsed. (was there anyone, at all, who thought they wouldn't? I think Craig was running a pool on the date, right??) paypal, like credit cards, is another way to move US dollars around, which is great. (There's a lot of US dollars, so they should do well.) Lawsuts show *strength*, not weakness. They are a normal part of normal business. analysts use lawsuits as an indicator of the *health* and vigour of a new sector. The "number" is 200 .. there's about 200 bars of goldmoney of all brands in circulation. How much will there be in 5 years .. who knows!
