Dear Friends, The real news here:

The big news is that neither Republican nor Democrat gained a clear majority, while 2% of the vote went to Libertarian John Sophocleus in the race for Alabama governor. Many years ago, political strategist and science fiction superstar L. Neil Smith wrote that the Libertarians should adopt a policy of spoiling elections for the Republicans until they begin to adopt sensible policies on gun rights, interventionist wars, and the like. (The same might well be said about Democrats and drug rights, free speech, etc.) Here, at last, we see a race thrown into re-count and disrepute, not only because of seemingly overt vote fraud (big surprise) but also due to the presence of a fairly strong third party candidate. Or, as I like to say, "if you can't beat 'em and won't join 'em, pee in their cereal bowl!"
