Dear Friends, There were a bunch of things wrong with my last post on this topic, so I thought I would make some effort to correct and make amends.
First, it appears that Orlin Grabbe has gone to great lengths to promote his system as private and anonymous. There are details here: http://orlingrabbe.org/dmt2.htm Second, it seems that I was not in possession of complete information at the time I made my post. Among other things, the guy who goes by the pseudonym Adam Selene has been doing some important work tracing the extent to which the Dodge City ATM scam was fractional reserve, so that those burned might get their funds back. (Adam Selene for those grasping for the literary reference is the pseudonym taken by the computer MYCROFT Holmes in the book _The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress_ by Robert Heinlein.) Third, it does seem to be true that the fifty year adventure in free market capitalism has been cut short in its eighth year. LF City is dead. Sad news. There is some cleverness in creating a wire memo field by hashing certain values, and then substituting something a bit less random. Given my experiences with wire memo fields, though, I can't say that I'm eager to rely on the system. Also, it seems that I was under a false impression about the location of the Liquid Privacy folks. I'm back to not knowing a thing about where they are. Not only does the LESE system not tell me where the gold for gold contracts might be stored, I'm also a bit baffled by the use of the system for buying e-gold. If I understand all the costs for transactions into and out of the system, my effective cost for e-gold using DMT/LESE is much higher than I can get from Cambist.net or OmniPay. And since to make use of the e-gold, rather than just sell it again on LESE, I have to pay a 1% transfer out fee to get it into my e-gold account - which may be spend limited if the e-gold due diligence unit doesn't have good papers on me - I'm not sure how much the anonymity features benefit me. Certainly not as much as the e-gold would seem to cost. Your mileage may, of course, vary.
