As I have posted several times, a client side wallet would slow
the scamsters down quite a bit.

Of course, sooner or later the scamsters would create viruses
that installed fake wallets on people's systems, but most
people have precautions against viruses in place, plus if one
put a fair bit of work into creating an idiosyncratic
appearance for the real wallet, it would take a similar amount
of work to imitate the appearance of the real wallet.
