Hello Everyone,

What I meant, when talking about a 'debit card' was a card that is kept in
e-gold. All current cards are kept in USD and one or two in EURo, making
the sense of funding them with e-gold somewhat questionable.

To get e-gold more widelz spread acceptance we should think outside the
box of our personal needs an preferances. The majority of the middle class
has no offshore holdings, anonymous bank accounts no-name charge cards,
etc. So why would they pay 3% to buy e-gold, 1% to fund charge/debit cards
with them - only to have the balance converted back into USD - and then
1-3% on cash withdrawals?

However, if the card was kept in e-gold, then there would be an incentive
for gold bugs to get a few of them. At the same time, converting the
e-gold back, would be a walk to the ATM.

I imagine whoever would be interested in starting a pilot on this would be
best advised to talk 1mdc into getting involved as they have the storage
facility already in place.

Next, don't discard what I'm saying outright, because I've been running
cyfrocash.com for quite a while.
CF$ buys cheques. All types of cheques, from all over the place from just
about anyone. So we are engaging in one of the softest transaction types
and have to make payments necessarily repudiable.
The reason I'm bringing this up is simply our clients deal in 'goods',
products of various types - and we added e-gold as an afterthought.

The system works like this. Sellers [and some buyers] open accounts with
us. Buyers send us a cheque, once it clears the funds are available for
withdrawal by the seller.

Around 5% of cheques are returned unpaid. Around 3% of sellers don't
deliver goods. Yet people like using our service simply because it makes
it easier to buy and sell items without having to 'part' with their hard
earned cash straight away.

Mind you, we are not an escrow per say, but many an auction buyer chose to
use our service in that way.

At the same time, peole from Europe can pay items bought from American
websites without any hassles - and vice-versa.
We even have Asians booking holidays in Africa, depositing funds into the
nearest Asian account and we pay out the African organizers using DGC - on
the day the Asians board their plane.
The Organizer know that we have their cash, the Asians know that the tour
they booked is done by someone reputable - because both learnt to trust us
over the years.

Now, imagine we issued a charge card kept in e-gold. Imagine we'd host all
merchants' payment gateway centrally at cyberica.net.

Based on the reputation we have among our clients and subsequent word of
mouth promotion, e-gold could slowly become a natural alternative to the
USD in day to day trade online and then offline.

Asians love gold, so do most others who grew up with questionable local
currencies.
They take USD because there is no alternative - although our local money
changers by now stock more EURos than USD - but given a choice of having
gold accounts, there is no doubt what the majority would choose.
If and only if the hassles of trading in and with e-gold were taken out of
the system.

Sorry, this got much longer than I expected it would.

Cheers,
Robert.
