I believe the Les Hemingway one may be one of two, as the one he did with my Grandfather was before the '70s, was called New Atlantis, and it was closer to the FL Keys than the Bahamas. I'm aware this isn't exactly on the topic of money, but (like computer security, in small doses) privately done countries fascinate many in this crowd. Hopefully, the state Dept. will post the docs so we don't have to buy them... JMR
STATE DEPARTMENT DECLASSIFIES DOCUMENTS DESCRIBING MYTHICAL COUNTRIES by Michael Ravnitzky The United States Department of State has this week declassified and released a 552 page trove of documents describing mythical and ephemeral countries seeking recognition from the U.S. Government. Many of the documents consist of correspondence between applicants, govt officials or foreign nations, and the State Department. Among the dozens of applicants were: <snip> * The Sovereign Military and Hospitaler Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07477a.htm The order has an embassy to the Holy See, in Rome and other 91 countries.... It is recognized by the UN. www.orderofmalta.org Maybe your Department of State needs to read some history? Or maybe they consider 'mythical' anything that cannot be invaded???
