I've always though "micropayments" were an evil concept !! I can hardly say the word! :)
But JP, they're just another flavor of payments. I'm starting to like micropayments because they're (slowly, and without the clueless-chattering-class ever noticing!) killing spam naturally, via those "get paid to read email" things, which need to grow massively but are still doing a tiny bit of good.
Of course, schemes like "Peppercoin" which rely *solely* on micro-sized payments are likely to fail, IMO (despite all the genius-math-guys involved) because they don't have either the international user-community or the usefulness of plain- old e-gold, where you're free to make or accept either tiny or HUGE spends. Micropayments-alone is like trying to grow rice in a desert, and focusing on this very-tough & not-very- profitable segment of the payments-business is one of those weird lessons that smart people insist upon wanting to learn over & over, it seems...
