Do these boxes have some sort of "X" in the upper left hand corner? If they do, then the image is not found on the internet, or your browser did not sucessfully get the image. They act as a place holder.
Sometimes this happens to people's e-mails also. Some people only connect to the internet when in order to read their e-mail and for that short time it doesn't download the image, thus the placeholder with an X.
