STORY: After a vocanic explosion Madcap Island drifts to a continent governed by man - hating dogs. The island is inhabited by 10 people mostly children. The adults include Machine gun Dandy, Miss Sundy and Don Gavacho, the self-appointed president of the island. The dogs launch an artillery attack and the island town is demolished. Don Gavacho goes to negotiate with the dogs and is taken prisoner and sentenced to death by top dog commander Pitz. Disguised as horses the others steal into the city and rescue Don Gavacho. After a merry chase through an amusement park, they escape and begin to work hatching fless to fight the dogs with. Another attack begins and they hit the artillery shells back to the mainland with baseball bats. When the flea eggs hatch, they place them in baloons and the wind carries them to the mainland. Dandy shoots the baloons and fleas fall and completely demoralize the enemy. Dwelling in an isolated region, they have made friends with a variety of wildlife. One day, a ferocious eagle swoops down on the fawn Eri to carry it away to the evil swamp of Sansho. Eri's mother dashes after her child to save it but is attacked and killed by a monstrous salamander who Sasuke later learns is in actuality the wicked witch, Princess Yasha. Sasuke is consumed by the desire to gain enough strength to take revenge on the terrible witch, but realizing it requires years of hard training, he sets off to study the arts of the samurai. While engaged in his training, Sasuke unexpectedly comes face to face with Yasha. Her magic power is beyond his control, and she manages to have Sasuke fall over a precipice: she later becomes the leader of a bandit gang. Sasuke has narrowly escaped death, saved by the old austere ascetic from deep in the Togakushi Mountains, Haku-Unsai. On h is knees Sasuke implores the performer of powerful miracles to become his master. Meanwhile, Yasha and her followers fiendishly plunder Ueda, the castle town of Lord Yukimura Sanada. Unable to overcome the lawlessness in his town, the lord decides to discover Yasha's base of operations with his faithful retainer, Seikai Nyudo Miyoshi. After three years vigorous training, Sasuke has become a formidable foe and returns to his secluded hamlet where he is astonished to find his home burned down by the bandits and his sister Oyu and their furry friends nowhere to be seen. After a breathless search, Sasuke finds Oyu hiding in a cave in the rugged mountains. The happy reunion is momentary, however, for when Sasuke pays a visit to Lord Sanada, Oyu is abducted by Yasha. Enraged, Sasuke joins the lord in laying siege to Yasha's headquarters. But Yasha casts a spell on Oyu and her life literally hangs by a single strand of hair. Lord Sanada, using his quick wits, manages to outmaneuver Yasha and save Oyu from the witchcraft. After fierce face to face combat with Yasha utilizing the miracles he learned from his master, Sasuke overpowers the witch and with his sword thrown unerringly into her heart, turns her instantly into a skeleton. Entering the service of Lord Sanada, Sasuke Sarutobi was later considered to be one of the ten greatest warriors of the Sanada family. Yasuji Yabushita also directed 'The Legend of a White Serpent.' --------------------------------- >>THE ORPHANS ANJU TO ZUSHIOMARU 35 mm This is a story of Heian era, nine hundred years ago. At Iwashiro in Mutsu prefecture ( Today in Tohoku district), a sister and a brother live a happy life with their parents and animals. They are called Anju and Zushio. Their father is a governor who keeps domains of Emperor. But dark clouds spread over their peaceful life; a superior officer of their father, cold-hearted Onikura having an eye to Anju beauty demands her from father as his bride. Naturally father refuses flatly. Onikura, bearing a grudge about it, sets the domain of Emperor on fire and accuses him of its offence to officers of the capital. While father is sent to the capital, the house is attacked wicked Onikura, and his men. Anju, Zushio and their mother leave for the capital with their maid Kikuno and pets, in order to inform the truth. Their journey is full of pains. When winter comes, they reach Naoetsu, where they can' t find any inn. Then a seemingly kind man approaches to talk to them who are at loss. Really he is a slave-dealer. Being cheated, mother and children are embarked in boats separately. Two boats take different directions in the open sea; one of Anju and Zushio to Yura, the other of mother and the maid Kikuno to Sado-island. On the way, Kikuno accidentally is fallen in sea by a wicked boatman, when disputing with him. She metamorphoses herself into a siren in the sea. At Yura, Anju and Zushio are sold to Sanshodayu, who is a rich, cruel man. Anju works as Shio-kumi ( in other word, who ladles sea water to produce salt ), Zushio as a firewood gatherer. They have a hard time. Sanshodayu has two sons; one is Jiro as cruel as his father, but other kind-hearted youngman Saburo, who takes good care of the two in secret. Jiro, getting angry to see Saburo treating kindly Anju and Zushio, informs his father Sanshodayu that Anju is lazy and gives her a harder work. Thinking that the both can't escape out and go to the capital, Anju lets her brother Zushio free and she drowns herself into a pond. Just then it thunders suddenly and a luxurious building of Sanshodayu under construction is struck by lightening. The swan flies away to the capital. Guided by the swan, Zushio gets to Kiyomizu-Dera in Kyoto. And there he hears a girl screaming; Zushio saves her in peril, who is a daughter of the chief adviser of Emperor, Morozane Fujiwara, named Ayahime. Through this chance, Zushio is under the care of Morozane and continues to look for his father. But unfortunately it becomes clear that his father was dead already in Kyushu. Zushio abandons himself to grief; but encouraged by Morozane and Ayahime, he takes heart again to commence his apprenticeship to arts of the pen and sword. At last he is appointed the governor of Mutsu prefecture after his father. On his way to Mutsu, he is going to drop in on Sanshodayu; knowing the news, Sanshodayu and his men att ack him, but on the contrary they are defeated completely. At the house of Sanshodayu, Zushio knows the death of his dearest sister Anju, and his heart is filled with grief. But out of consideration for the pure heart of Saburo who becomes a Buddist to pray for the repose of Anju's soul, Zushio forgives his father Sanshodayu and Jiro. Later Zushio ferries to Sado, seeking for his loving mother. At last he finds out her, but who is now blind. Touching meeting of an old mother and a grown son. He starts on a ship trip with his mother to their native land. The ship is sliding on the quiet sea. In the clear and blue sky, the swan is slowly flaying away. --------------------------------- >>CAPTAIN HARLOCK IN ARCADIA WAGA SAISHUN NO ARCADIA 130 min. Harlock is then arrested with a mysterious Japanese named Tochiro after having a fight with some Illmidus military officers and both Harlick and Tochiro are found to be carrying Harlock family documents. This causes them to be put under the Memory Molecular Analyzing Scanner. Images of past Harlock history show that former Phantom F. Harlock, Jr. met Tochiro's father during World War ?U. Harlock, Jr. then disappeared after giving the elder tochiro the Harlock family history. Harlock and Tochiro both realize that they are tied together by a strange twist of fate. The beautiful, young, free space trader, Emeraldus lands on the planet Earth after making her way through the Fire River of Prominence and Toshiro helps her repair her space ship. Now, the Illmidus invaders want to send the Earth Volunteer Army to the planet Tocarga and destroy it in order to extend their power in space. Zoll, La Mime, and 50 aged Tocarga soldiers who ore on Earth Attempt to steal Emeraldus's space ship so that they can go to their planet of Tocarga and die with their families - but Tochiro insists on their using a new space ship that he had been building. Captain Harlock boards this new space ship, Arcadia, wearing a jump-suit with his skull insignia and a patch over his right eye which was injures when he attempted to rescue Mary a, the only woman Harlock has ever loved. Commander Zeda of the Illumidus invaders is do incensed by Captain Harlock's counterattack on Tocarga, that he orders the execution of both Zoll and Emeraldus who had remained on Earth. Zoll is killed and Emeraldus seriously wounded. When Captain Harlock arrives on Tocarga with his small band of Tocarga soldiers, they find that the population has died out completely while waiting for Zoll's return. Arcadia returns safely to the planet Earth, but the real battle has just begun. Zeda, on board the spaceship Starzatt challenges the Arcadia to a suel. And now, the descisive battle takes place.
