Ice Cream Sundaes were created when it
became illegal to sell ice cream with flavored
soda on a Sunday in Evanston, Illinois
during the late 19th century. Some traders
got round it by serving it with syrup instead,
calling it an 'Ice Cream Sunday' and
eventually replacing the final 'y' with an 'e' to
avoid upsetting religious leaders.
The term "swan song," meaning a final farewell
action, appearance or pronouncement, derives
from the belief that a swan sings as it dies.
On those dog days of summer, humans sweat
through their pores, while dogs sweat through
the pads of their feet.
Be careful not to anger a hippopotamus; they
can outrun human beings.
