David, How well did you have the flows over the 10 gig part balanced? What you are seeing may be due to the fact that with multiple 1 gig ports you are guaranteed 1gbps or less per flow so if you have one port per CPU the likelihood of flooding the cpu with traffic is low. With 10 gig it is possible to easily exceed this and this will result in rx_buffer_overruns and rx_missed_errors, and as I recall rx_missed_errors can translated into rx_errors.

Data loss is dramatically improved. However I'm still seeing a small amount of packet loss relative to the control system running e1000e/82571EB. Both are attached to the same fully tricked-out Cisco 6509. For the moment the drivers were built with DCA/IOAT disabled and the corresponding kernel modules are not loaded. Seeing a tiny number of 'rx_errors', fewer than five, but the number of data loss events roughly matches. No other error counters are clicking and nothing appears in 'dmesg'. I'll see if I can collect further information to characterize what may be the cause of the data loss.
