With this patch applied to the 2.4 kernel, we were able to get to
1.8Gbits/s.
>From this result, I think to get bonding working correctly in 2.4 kernel, I

have to back port a lot 2.6 changes into 2.4.

        I think I can pretty much guarantee it won't apply to your
kernel (well, it won't compile, anyway).

        I very much doubt the bug it fixes is your problem, as that bug
only existed in the 2.6 kernel.  The 2.4 bonding driver doesn't have the
bug this patch fixes.

        If you want to email me (off list, if you like) the
/proc/net/bonding/bond* files for the working/not working setups, I'm
happy to take a gander and see if they look funky.
