The Intel mail system may be stripping the attachment. Please include the patch in the body of the mail as well.
Thanks. BTW, I'm pretty sure that promiscuous mode for the VF's is not enable just as you say that this is a potential security risk. I'll talk to some of the guys responsible for the driver and ask about it however.
