the strange thing regarding the bug in question is that I can shutdown
just fine if I unload the e1000e driver, but somebody else who doesn't
have e1000e loaded at all still gets the same problem!

so it doesn't appear to be a e1000e related thing, more like an ACPI
issue, please leave your comment in that bug id if you can.
