Hi, all

I have two 82599 cards, it's required to test the pause function.
I have done the following test:
Comment the following line in ixgbe_fc_enable_generic:
mflcn_reg |= IXGBE_MFLCN_DPF;

HOST A   <----------> HOST B

at host a, using the following program to send pause frame to host b.

http://www.tux.org/pub/sites/www.zip.com.au/%257Eakpm/linux/flow-ctrl.c

and at the same time, ping host b; After sending pause frame, ICMP
reply time stamp will have a long interval. This could prove host b
NIC responds to host a pause frame.

Is there any possible way to force 82599 hardware generate pause frame
without using packet generator?
Or to be more general, how do I test pause function with two 82599 cards?

any advice/suggestion would be appreciated.

bill
