Hi All, I started playing around with Kirill's Trident animation library (Thanks Boris, for putting it in the bundle repository). I would like to create an animated splash screen for the contacts demo, but there are neither application life cycle hooks nor splash handlers available for e4 yet.
What are the plans for life cycle hooks and splash handlers? Is there any hack that I could use right now to animate the splash screen? As far I have debugged the code, the current splash screen is displayed before the OSGi runtime starts and then not touched anymore... I suggest: - providing a splash handler like mechanism. I am not sure if the 3.x SplashHandler extension point would be the best possible solution for e4. Alternatively we could use an OSGi declarative service, which is provided by the application itself. - providing life cycle hooks. Here we could also use the Whiteboard pattern such as an application could provide a life cycle service itself, which is invoked by the startup workflow, if available. Any thoughts about that?
