Hi Seems my attached patch for the ADSL ISP list in Drakconnect (+ the file) did not go through... (I sent it privately to Thierry/blino). The file can be viewed here : http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/eagleusb/eagleusb/utils/scripts/adsl_consts.pm?rev=1.4&sortby=date&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup (with minor modification : Common instead of common)
Changelog : - new fields for the database, may be used to add information for the user (see below) - new ISP : Ceský Telecom (Czech Republic), Tiscali.ch (Switzerland), Planet.tn (Tunisia) New fields / possible uses are : - id : to identify uniquely an ISP - url_tech : an URL (when given by ISP) for configuration parameters => could be displayed by Drakconnect to suggest the user to have a look at it - dnsServers_text : when there are more than 2 DNS to choose from => could be displayed in Drakconnect to help enter DNS (for static connections mainly) - methods_all : some ISP permit several connections mode, either static or dhcp => could be displayed as text "available connections methods for this ISP" - modem : identifies the modem given by the ISP => if you take into account all those fields, we could have exactly the same file, so updates will be easier between Mandrakesoft & eagle-usb.org project (all comments welcome to enhance this database and avoid duplication of data) Changes to come for eagle-usb driver : - FHS compliancy (/usr/share/eagle-usb contains data + scripts that were previously in /etc/eagle-usb/ ) - with help of Sagem and Analog we are going to implement CMV for "easier" connection to some ISP (it is becoming critical for ISP providing 8 mbps, as the modem has great difficulties to synchronize). There will be two new fields to manage this configuration : CMVep & CMVei (containing FR04 for Free dégroupé for example, in order to use /usr/share/eagle-usb/CMVepFR04.txt) - new eagle-usb with latest DSPcode (useful for Fast 800 E2L, E2T and compulsory for Fast 800 E3). No news yet for license : only "you are free to distribute". - planned release date : well... ASAP (should be by next monday, sorry for the delay) Impacts on Drakconnect : - display information to the user, using new fields (ask me to be more precise if that's not clear where to display it) - maybe you could use eagleconfig instead of writing directly to /etc/eagle-usb/eagle-usb.conf ? - find a way to manage new fields CMVep/CMVei : add those field to "expert configuration" with VPI/VCI/encapsulation (but only for eagle-usb) I know we are not on debian-legal, but has anybody ideas whether there should be a copyright+GPL header on this ISPdatabase file ? It can be seen as simple aggregation of facts (technical data) - hence not copyrightable - though the database structure may be copyrightable, simple as it is ? Hope this helps @++ Ben'. aka baud123
