Hello,

Many people have been asking for drag & drop support for IDEA. The most
common reason for denying this request seems to be that IDEA is a project-
based application. The same reason has been given for questions about the
possibility of associating JSP and Java files to IDEA.

I will not comment on the wisdom of that kind of limit - it has it's pros
and cons. I do have a suggestion, though:

Why not allow IDEA at least open those files that belong to the project
that is currently open. It is a very common situation that I double click
e.g. a JSP page in Windows Explorer to open it - even though it does belong
to the project I am currently developing. I do not wish to use IDEA's
explorer to find the same file that I already have on my Windows Explorer.
The same goes with applications like WinCvs. I would just like to drag the
file to IDEA directly from the WinCvs.

IDEA doesn't seem to allow me to do that even though the file is already
included in my project. If I would accidentially try to open a file which
doesn't belong to my project, IDEA could just tell me so - no harm done.

Regards,
Markus Halttunen
