Unfortunately, the last three places where I have worked have not had such coding
standards. It would be too much to try and reformat hundreds of classes and deal with
all the CVS conflicts. I think it is quite common for developers to ignore these
standards anyway.

Layout code, under my suggestion, and only with a "guess styling" option on, would
reformat according to the styling guessed from the file, or the configured styling
where the it cannot be guessed.

At my company we have strict standards for style, and even a publish style
guide. When I come across another developers code and then have not stuck
to the style guide (probably because they are still stuck in the stone ages
using emacs or vi or something... ) I find it great that all I have to do is
hit "Layout Code" to bring their code into conforming with our style. I
usually do this first, and then CVS with a quick comment to say that I have
done so.
If your request was granted then the Layout Code feature would become un
predictable, I believe.

This results in either having to alter my styling in options which I might
forget to change back, or use my settings within their files resulting in a
messy mix.
