I wouldn't want a find usages that didn't open the separate window. I wan't
to know the universe i'm searching when it possibly involves a lot of files.

You can do:
find usage -> open panel.
Shift escape -> hides the panel if you want.
control-alt-up/down -> navigates between the entries in the find usage
panel.

After doing the first "Find usage in file" (F7),  F3 and Shift-F3 are
restricted to the "found" usages.

The same applies to "Highlight usages in file".
