The Emacs ediff function shows the difference between two files, just
like you can do in IDEA's local VCS history -- but instead of being
line-based, it is character-based in the sense that it highlights those
*parts* of a line that have actually been changed, as in 
<URL:http://www.ida.liu.se/~jonkv/ediff.png>.


To be more exact, it appears that it first does an ordinary line-by-line
diff, and then it analyzes each "chunk" of changes without regard to
line breaks in order to see what has changed.

Any chance of seeing this in any future version of IDEA?
