I'm confused as to why cod inspection is "useless wizardy"? I find it very
helpful when going through a bunch of old code that needs to be cleaned up.
I've even been able to find bugs and fix them that neither the users nor the
qa team was able to identify. More importantly, you end up with a clean and
consistent code base making maitenance and refactoring that much easier.

If you want a text editor with highlighting, I'd recommend vim or xemacs.
Both are quite nice and what I use to edit my C++/lisp/perl code.

When I work with Java, it's nice to have access to "useless wizardry".
Because I'm lazy? No, because I actually like to accomplish something.
