In my opinion streched out little finger always creates a tension in the hand;
even if it is not muscle tension, it is tendon tension. It is particularily
obvious when ring finger enters the action, and was actually observed by
Truskolaski. It is anatomy. You cannot fight it. There are funny fingers
excercises (done without instrument) that prove that tendon limitations.

Indeed, Sor uses it, but says "as long as it is necessary"; he does not use it
whenever it is not necessary - this was my point here.

Thank you Paul for your points supproting the practice, I do appreciate them,
and this is a good insight, but I was asking about 19th century. In fact Sor's
and Aguado's comments are far from being supportive: they offer at least the
same quantity of reservations than supporting opinions.

This is interesting - I think that "Segovia" is the most direct and intuitive.
Clearly, it depends on "school" you grown as a guitaris in.

Respectfuly - Krzysztof

(BTW - you spelled it out well; chapeu bas!)
