Although this is not exactly an answer to your question I think this may be of interest :
As of V5R3 there is a nice little command to generate HTML doc about ANY *CMD object :
Generate Command Documentation (GENCMDDOC)
If you would like to have help doc about commands nothing could be easier with this thing...

That's what I was thinking of/looking for.  I have done something like that within and RPGLE program using the keyword SPECIAL, thanks to a Jon Paris article.

Thanks.  I'll dig around.

I don't want F4 necessarily, but I would like to see return messages, like if I were running an ftp command to display the contents of a directory, I'd like to see that.

This all comes about because I'd like to display folder contents that I'm ftp'ing in test.  With another partner I could just go through my browser to view it.  With this partner we've setup a VPN.  I can't view through the browser or even Seagull FTP.  I can only go through the iSeries.

I'm probably talking crazy!  Thanks.

If you just want to run a command via a browser, just make a CGI to handle the commande and run it under the CGI.
If you want to ADD F4 to the command entered ... :(

I'm not even sure what I'm asking for, but I have it in my head that I'd
like to be able to run a command line from a browser.  Has anyone played
around with something like this or is it way out there, too much work
and not worth it?

Thanks.
