I got it working. I had to use GET since I was doing an onchange and not submitting a form. I also had one variable spelled incorrectly. Dumb me!!!
It works well. NOW I need to figure out how to: as you key in, for each letter I can retrieve, display and reset the page to accept the next letter. I.E> Google Suggests.
