fyi. I am doing it all on Debian without any issue like what you reported; my guess is that you really deal with an Ubuntu-specific problem. (*) btw. yes, we occasionally have to pass the parameter --strict=ignore, in order to overcome the osdependencies roadblocks but, assuming we've done the homework to setup the equivalent packages correctly, it is working really smooth without any concerns. Since you brought OpenFOAM as the example, I doubt you wouldn't want to employ Easybuild for that kind of business; if the framework you use in Zurich is open source, this is a great opportunity for a head-to-head comparison to understand what are the merits in its case. cheers, Fotis (*) And in fact just yesterday we discovered together with Kenneth an interesting case where RHEL's more recent "install" was actually making a package stumble at the installation step; depending how you interpret it, it is "more compatible" with Debian ;-) (I'm just trying to pretend being funny here!)
